Sheltered bridge

That's China - - Goings On -

Three sheltered bridges in Taishun County, the famous “China capital of sheltered bridge architecture” in Wenzhou, were ruined in the aftermath of typhoon Meranti that swept through Zhejiang and Fujian provinces on September 15. Fifteen of the 33 sheltered bridges (or “langqiao”) in the county are under state-level cultural relics protection. The county’s only extent three-storey “langqiao” was destroyed in a flood in 1990. The strongest typhoon to hit China this year, “Meranti” was also the strongest typhoon to hit southern Fujian since 1949.
