"iPhone City"

The city's industrial growth has resulted in a large increase in the population, predominantly from industrial workers moving from the north. Foxconn Zhengzhou, located in Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone, currently is the largest production site of smart phones in the world, also known as "iPhone City", where about half of the world’s iPhone are manufactured. Located in the Zhengzhou Xinzheng Bonded Area, only a few miles away from the newly refurbished Xinzheng International Airport, the 94 Foxconn assembly lines churn out about 500,000 sets of the world’s most popular smart phone on a daily basis. The stunning productivity of the manufacturing base, launched into full operation in 2010, has compelled New York Times journalists to visit more than 100 times over the past seven years in an attempt to uncover the secrets behind the “Zhengzhou speed”.
