The Peak (Hong Kong) - - Watches -

The big cat continues to be an inspiration at Cartier, with the watchmaker unveiling several designs featuring its iconic panther. From gem-clad renditions to those imagined through the intricate craft of marquetry, there is no shortage of artistry in its pieces. The most playful piece to come out of Cartier's novelties this year is The Revelation d'une Panthère, a design that takes on a less overt expression of the feline form. When the watch is angled down, 900 gold beads gathere at the bottom of the dial. When the watch is held vertical, the gold balls trickle down across the dial and are sent floating across an outline of the Panthére emblem. The inside of the dial is filled with liquid, which allows the golden balls to flow freely. A design five years in the making, the piece is presented in red and green, with each piece available in an edition of 100 pieces. The Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked gets a frosty update this year. The in-house self-winding calibre that powers the hours, minutes and second hands is housed inside a frosted white gold case. The 37 mm piece gets a few contrasting pink gold details across the dial, including the hour markers as well as the hands in rose gold. The piece is completed with a signature Royal Oak link bracelet, also frosted to give it that icy cool look.
