Since the io.t by HKT concept store opened in August last year at ELEMENTS, HKT Premier has enhanced its iot in Style showcase in March this year, by installing elegant furniture from French retailer Roche Bobois. Together, Roche Bobois and HKT Premier have seamlessly combined their know-how in their respective fields to create a perfect matrimony of art and technology for an Iot-connected home.

Customers can experience what an Iot-connected home feels like when they visit iot in Style 2 showcases. Presented by HKT Premier and Roche Bobois, these showcases allow visitors to experience how entertainment systems, lighting, home appliances and business tools can be controlled via touchpad or voice command in an elegantly furnished home setting.

The showcases were curated by Sacha Lakic, one of Roche Bobois designers who created the iconic Bubble sofa exclusively for the brand, which is now seen in the showcase.

Lakic is a versatile, award-winning product designer who has developed everything from eyewear and audio systems, to furniture and restaurant interiors, as well as cutting-edge motorcycles for brands such as Venturi, Yamaha, and Voxan.

His extensive work with Roche Bobois brought to life pieces such as the flyingcarpet-inspired Onda bed and Bubble sofa, which have become 21st century classics.

“Technology is an element that I often integrate into my designs. What I try to do with my work for Roche Bobois is create furniture that is different and beautiful, comfortable and timeless, but which have perfectly integrated functions,” says Lakic who frequently thinks in terms of metaphors when he approaches his sketchpad. “With Bubble, I imagined how a cloud would look like if it was transformed into a sofa. In the imaginations of most people, clouds are comfortably soft, something that envelops you, so that was how the idea for Bubble arose,” he says.

Made of three different types of molded foam fitted with technologically advanced, stretchable fabric, Bubble is a product that combines good design with tech wonderfully. “Because this sofa is so incredibly comfortable and functional, it allows you to get the most enjoyment from your IOT products,” says Lakic.

“Because HKT Premier’s technology is invisible, you can have very clean, clutterfree interiors, with no cables or multiple clunky electronics lying around. Everything is centralised in one application, so you can control all your home systems from a single device. This not only helps you save time, it also frees up more space in your home. Because the tech is invisible, it doesn’t interfere with your taste preferences, or how you decide to organise your interiors. You can have a classical, modern, or funky and colourful concept, all within an automated space. With an intelligent, Iot-connected home, you’re free to do whatever you want design-wise,” says Lakic.
