Wang Fei, 38, is a teacher at Shangqiu No. 7 Middle School in Central China's Henan Province. Su Rui, Wang's wife, and who is the same age, is an employee of China Unicom in Shangqiu. The couple joined the Data Bank of Chinese Hematopoietic Stem Cell Donors, also known as the China Marrow Donor Program (CMDP), in 2005. Nine years later, Wang's hematopoietic stem cells (HSCS) matched the HSCS of a leukemia patient in East China's Zhejiang Province. The HSCS Wang donated saved the patient's life. Since then, Wang and Su have been encouraging people to become volunteers, and to support programs beneficial to people's health.
