Turkmenistan's National Assembly's Deputy Speaker Heads Delegation to China
Shen Yueyue, Vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and President of the All-china Women's Federation (ACWF), met a women's delegation from Turkmenistan in Beijing on July 26, 2017. Gulshat Mammedova, Deputy Speaker of the country's National Assembly, headed the delegation.
During her meeting with the delegation, Shen said China and Turkmenistan are "good friends and partners." She mentioned Chinese President Xi Jinping and Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow both attach great importance to the bilateral relationship. Leaders of China and Turkmenistan have meetings annually, and those meetings bring fruitful results in cooperation in various fields.
Shen called for deepened cooperation and enhanced mutual understanding and friendship within the Belt and Road Initiative. In addition, she called for enhanced parliamentary and women's exchanges, and for the promotion of women's participation in the Belt and Road Initiative. She continued to outline the development of women's undertakings in China, and the superiority of people's congress system.
Mammedova expressed her gratitude to Shen for hosting the cordial meeting, and for ACWF'S invitation to her delegation to visit China. She said she will make efforts to reinforce parliamentary and women's exchanges, strengthen cooperation with the ACWF and push forward friendly cooperation between people, especially among women, of the two countries.
Xia Jie, Vice-president and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, and Chinar Rustamova, Turkmenistan's ambassador to China, attended the meeting.
On July 24, Song Xiuyan, Vice-president and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, and Mammedova exchanged views on China and Turkmenistan's efforts to advance gender equality and women's development. Song spoke highly of the communications between the women of the two countries. She said people-to-people bonds are "vital" to implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative. She hoped women would adopt innovative approaches to deepen mutual learning and cooperation, so they can make more contributions to this initiative.
Mammedova said she appreciated China's accomplishments in advancing women's progress, and ACWF'S work in safeguarding women's rights and promoting their development. She also expressed her willingness to make efforts with China to boost women's development.
During the delegation's stay, they also visited Tianjin and they met Huai Jinpeng, Deputy Secretary of Tianjin municipal CPC (Communist Party of China) committee.
