25th WIN Global Conference Held in Beijing
The 25th WIN Global Annual Conference, convened at the China National Convention Center, in Beijing, on August 29-30, marked the first time the event was held in China's mainland. With the theme of Women, Nuclear, Cooperation and Harmony, the conference was held by Women in Nuclear Global (WIN Global), a non-profit network of women nuclear scientists and technicians from around the world. Song Xiuyan, Vice-president of the All-china Women's Federation, noted by 2016 women made up 40 percent — or 30 million people — of the technology manpower in China. In China's nuclear sector, one-fourth of the workers are women, and 75 percent of those women are brilliant young professionals under age 45. Rong Fang, chief economist at the State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation of China, was recognized during the conference for her outstanding contributions in leadership, global cooperation, and promoting nuclear education and training.
