Shen Meets Ugandan Parliament's Speaker
Shen Yueyue, Vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and President of the All-china Women's Federation (ACWF), met a delegation from Uganda on August 25, 2017, in Beijing. The delegation was headed by Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, speaker of Uganda's Parliament.
Shen spoke of the friendly relations and women's exchanges between China and Uganda. She noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni both attached importance to relations between the two countries. Shen urged women from the two countries to implement the consensus agreed by the two heads of state, strengthen exchanges and cooperation, make contributions to improving the friendship, and promote the realization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Kadaga praised the traditional friendship between the two countries, and between their women. Kadaga said the visit will deepen women's communications and cooperation, and that it will promote healthy and stable progress in advancing Uganda's relationship with China.
The Ugandan delegation visited China at the invitation of Zhang Dejiang, Chairperson of the NPC Standing Committee. Zhang Xiaolan, Vice-president and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, and Yang Jianting, Member of the NPC Foreign Affairs Committee, also attended the meeting.
