Women's Lives Improved
China has made remarkable achievements in promoting women's development, and Chinese women's lives have been greatly improved in recent years, Xinhua News Agency reported on March 7. According to statistics from the All-china Women's Federation, women's average life expectancy reached 79.43 years in 2015, compared with 77.37 years in 2010. The maternal mortality rate dropped from 30 per 100,000, in 2010, to 20.1 per 100,000, in 2015. About 55 percent of the entrepreneurs who started Internet businesses were women. In 2015, China's rural, poverty-stricken population was reduced by 110 million compared with 2010, and about half of those people were women. Women accounted for 22.5 percent of directors and 26.3 percent of supervisors in companies, up by 5.4 percent and 3.8 percent, respectively.
