Chinese Scientist Wins 2018 L'ORÉAL-UNESCO For Women in Science Award
UNESCO and the L'oréal Foundation honored five exceptional female scientists with the 2018 L'ORÉAL-UNESCO For Women in Science Awards during a ceremony on March 22 at UNESCO'S Headquarters in Paris. Chinese scientist Zhang Miman, professor with the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology and member of Beijing-based Chinese Academy of Sciences, was one of the five laureates. She won the award for her pioneering work on fossil records leading to insights on how aquatic vertebrates adapted to life on land. Over the last 20 years, the L'ORÉAL-UNESCO For Women in Science program has raised the profile of 102 laureates, and supported more than 3,000 young female scientists.
