To help women better understand the nation's laws, Qinghai (in Northwest China) Women's Federation and Xining (capital of Qinghai Province) Women's Federation on March 5 launched Women's Rights-protection Week, and an activity to offer volunteer services. The event was held in Tianjiazhai, a village in Huangzhong, a county in Xining.

Officials of Qinghai Women's Federation called on women's federations, at all levels in the province, to improve their services, to help women and children protect their legal rights and interests.

Women volunteers explained, to residents, the laws and regulations pertaining to the protection of women and children's legal rights and interests. The volunteers also distributed brochures that contained information about the laws and regulations, to help the residents improve their ability to protect their rights and interests.

Representatives of women volunteers called on women and families to combat domestic violence, to prohibit drug abuse and trafficking and to clean their communities, to promote the areas' ecological development.
