PEDRO PORTUONDO, THE NEW KING OF CUBAN ROADS
THE FOURTH EDITION OF THE CUBAN CYCLING CLASSIC HAS COME TO AN END. LIKE LAST YEAR, TWELVE STAGES WERE RACED BY 91 CYCLISTS, WHO WERE DIVIDED INTO FIFTEEN TEAMS PLUS A GUEST FROM TRINIDAD & TOBAGO. THE EFFORT MADE BY THE CYCLISTS WAS HUGE, BUT IT WAS SURPASSED BY THE ONE CARRIED OUT BY ORGANIZERS AND COLLABORATORS, WHO RESCUED AN EVENT THAT SEEM TO BE LOST.
Pedro Portuondo “Tato” proved his worth and devotion beyond any doubt while wearing the orange shirt up La Gran Piedra. Portuondo showed his skills as a mountaineer, road cyclist and racer against the clock. He won that stage and biggered his advantage. Congratulations to the cyclists that made it to the finish line and the authorities and collaborators that made another Cuban Cycling Classic come true, against all predictions.
