On Cuba - - AUTHORS - A Different Trip

Founder and CEO of Leading Women Entrepreneurs. I have spent more than a decade advancing women entrepreneurs and executives in ways that create avenues for their ultimate success.

The Leading Women Entrepreneurs retreat to Havana Cuba was such an incredible experience which was without questions an invaluable, once-in-a-life-time opportunity that will enhance and support the future of women in business globally. We had access a to a unique business culture that is at the birthplace of entrepreneurship and innovation which was as if traveling through a time warp back to the 1950’s. We were exposed to some features of the most advanced countries (medicine and education) and some of the most backward (the economy). Havana is a colorful cornucopia of sights, new experiences, salsa music and friendly people. We had 17 American women retreat participants who had the opportunity to meet and forge bonds with fellow, women entrepreneurs, artists and business leaders in Havana. The connections that we made there transformed our individual visions of Cuba. We learned so much about women and how progressive, in many ways, the country is in terms of supporting females while enduring other challenges. We also got to experience first-hand the beautiful dance and culture that Cuba has to offer. Our private visit to the dance academy was a moment we will never forget as we got to see first- hand how performances are choreographed and how many different instruments and styles are used to create unforgettable performances like the private one we were privileged to see. The trip to Cuba gave all of us the opportunity to explore the innovations of a country that Americans have not been able to see for many years. I am confident that this experience will bring us all to new and unexpected professional heights through the knowledge, connections and enthusiasm that we experienced. We can’t wait to come back to Cuba and we would encourage others to visit this beautiful destination! Linda Wellbrock, Founder and CEO of Leading Women Entrepreneurs
