Man stabbed in throat, face and hand in drunken row over money

-

A MAN was stabbed with a 16cm-long vegetable knife in a drunken row over money, Lefkoşa District Court was told.

Uğur Sungur Şölen, 60, was drinking with Muzaffer Öksüz in the Küçük Kaymaklı Sports Club last Saturday night when the argument broke out, leading to Mr Öksüz suffering stab wounds to his throat, face and left hand, the court heard on Tuesday.

Before being further remanded in custody for one month pending his trial, Şölen told the judge: “It all happened because of money. He gave me 5TL for a tip . . . I took 5TL out of my pocket but a 50TL note also came out and he took both of them. That is when the argument broke out.”
