TC teenager to play for Turkey’s national team

NINETEEN-year-old Turkish Cypriot footballer Ahmet Sivri has been selected to play for Turkey’s Under-19 national team.

The player trained with the TRNC’s Yenicami before transferring to Galatasaray following trials early last year and has recently taken his place in a Turkish squad now preparing to face Portugal’s U19 national team.

According to reports, he has scored 13 goals during his time with Galatsaray’s U21 team and has been offered the opportunity to train with its first team, stoking interest from Turkish media.
