Öz­er­say dines with Disy leader, holds in­for­mal talks

DEPUTY Prime Min­is­ter and For­eign Min­is­ter Ku­dret Öz­er­say has held in­for­mal talks over din­ner with the Greek Cypriot Demo­cratic Rally (Disy) head Averof Neo­phy­tou.

The pair got to­gether in Koruçam on Sun­day, where Peo­ple’s Party (HP) leader Dr Öz­er­say an­nounced on so­cial me­dia they had been hosted at the house of a “mu­tual friend”.

“We con­tin­ued here in Koruçam the in­for­mal di­a­logue process we ini­ti­ated in New York,” said Dr Öz­er­say, adding: “What­ever will hap­pen in Cyprus, I pre­fer it to hap­pen by way of di­a­logue and co­op­er­a­tion.”

In a joint mes­sage on so­cial me­dia, the two politi­cians, who met on Septem­ber 28 in New York when both were there for the UN Gen­eral As­sem­bly, said: “Whether we are of a con­sen­sus or not, di­a­logue is the most civilised way for the steps that we will take for­ward . . . We will con­tinue this as two party lead­ers.”
