New company registrations continued to rise for the sixth consecutive month in June, on an annual basis, to 761, from 654 in the year-earlier month, up 16.4%. However, on a monthly basis, new company applications dropped 21.5% from 969 the previous month.
The total applications for new company registration in the first half of the year dropped to 5,434, from 5,778 in the JanuaryJune period last year, a reduction of 344 or 5.95%. Total registrations in 2013 had reached 10,927, compared to 18,098 in 2012. The number of companies in the Registrar’s records reached 268,901 by the end of June, marginally up 0.3% from 268,151 in the January-June period of 2013.
The number of company bankruptcies in the first half of the year reached 73, compared to 189 for the whole of 2013 and 133 in 2012. Voluntary dissolutions totaled 670, compared to 1,478 for the whoel of 2013 and 1,144 in 2012, while the number of personal bankruptcies in January-June this year reached 90, compared to 364 for the whole of 2013 and 561 in 2012.
