Monthly earn­ings drop in 2Q 2014, av­er­age € 1,807

The av­er­age gross monthly earn­ings of em­ploy­ees dur­ing the sec­ond quar­ter of 2014 amounted to EUR 1,807, with males earn­ing an av­er­age of EUR 1,971 and fe­males EUR 1,624. Ac­cord­ing to the pre­lim­i­nary es­ti­mates of the Sta­tis­ti­cal Ser­vice, in com­par­i­son with the sec­ond quar­ter of 2013, a de­crease of 3.9% was recorded in the av­er­age monthly earn­ings of em­ploy­ees, with -4.4% for males and -3.2% for fe­males. The cor­re­spond­ing per­cent­age change ob­served dur­ing the sec­ond quar­ter of 2013 was -1.6%.

In com­par­i­son with the first quar­ter of 2014 there was a de­crease of 1.3% in the av­er­age monthly earn­ings of em­ploy­ees, with -1.4% for males and -1.0% for fe­males. The cor­re­spond­ing per­cent­age change dur­ing the sec­ond quar­ter of 2013 was -0.9%.

The Sta­tis­ti­cal Ser­vice noted that tem­po­rary con­tri­bu­tions of em­ploy­ees of the pri­vate sec­tor and of­fi­cials and em­ploy­ees of the cen­tral gov­ern­ment and the broader pub­lic sec­tor, and de­duc­tions in earn­ings of of­fi­cials and em­ploy­ees of the cen­tral gov­ern­ment and the broad pub­lic sec­tor, do not af­fect the gross salary of em­ploy­ees but only their net in­come, and con­se­quently they are not re­flected in th­ese fig­ures.
