The central government posted a primary budget surplus of 2.4 bln euros in the first ten months of the year, in line with targeted revenues, according to Deputy Finance Minister Christos Staikouras.

The central government surplus excludes the budgets of social security organisations and local administrations and is different from the figure monitored by the troika of international lenders, but indicates the country’s progress in repairing its finances.

The government is aiming for a general primary budget surplus of 2% of GDP this year and a 2.9% of GDP surplus in 2015.
