ERM by June, cards car­tel, tax amnesty

Cyprus was ex­pect­ing to hear from EU of­fi­cials when it would en­ter the ERM2 euro-area wait­ing room, prob­a­bly by June, while in other news, the is­land’s two main banks were of­fer­ing iden­ti­cal (al­most car­tel-like) card loy­alty schemes and the gov­ern­ment’s tax amnesty net­ted a to­tal of CYP 119 mln, ac­cord­ing to the is­sue 614, on March 30, 2005.

Cyprus is ex­pected to hear from EU of­fi­cials on an ex­act timetable for en­try into the Euro­pean Rate mech­a­nism, with Fi­nance Min­istry sources sug­gest­ing the end of the first half of 2005.
