EU talks, tax in­cen­tives, labour ten­sion

The EU de­cided to start a struc­tured di­a­logue for mem­ber­ship with Cyprus, tax in­cen­tives re­ceived muted re­sponse and labour ten­sions grew as OEV walked out of talks, ac­cord­ing to the is­sue 115, on June 14, 1995.

For­eign Min­is­ter Ale­cos Michaelides said that nei­ther Tur­key nor Turk­ish Cypriot leader Rauf Denk­tash can stop Cyprus’ course to­wards the Euro­pean Union, fol­low­ing de­ci­sions taken in Lux­em­bourg by the EU-Cyprus as­so­ci­a­tion coun­cil.
