Tusk to visit

Talks be­tween Prime Min­is­ter Ben­jamin Ne­tanyahu and Pres­i­dent Ni­cos Anas­tasi­ades in­cluded bi­lat­eral ties, re­gional mat­ters, EU-Is­raeli re­la­tions and the tri­par­tite co­op­er­a­tion be­tween Cyprus, Greece and Is­rael.

Syria and Iran were also dis­cussed, as well as the ini­tia­tive un­der­taken by Pres­i­dent Anas­tasi­ades as re­gards the Mid­dle East is­sue.

In the con­text of this ini­tia­tive, Euro­pean Coun­cil Pres­i­dent Don­ald Tusk will visit Cyprus on Septem­ber 8 and then con­tinue to the Mid­dle East, start­ing with Is­rael on Septem­ber 9 and the Pales­tinian Au­thor­ity on Septem­ber 10, and pos­si­bly Egypt as well.

The top Euro­pean of­fi­cial may be ac­com­pa­nied Pres­i­dent Anas­tasi­ades dur­ing his Mid­dle East tour.

Greek Prime Min­is­ter Alexis Tsipras is ex­pected to visit Is­rael in the first ten days of Septem­ber in or­der to fi­nalise the tri­par­tite meet­ing ini­ti­ated last year.
