Industrial production down in May
Industrial production was down in May, on an annual basis, but increased in the first five months of the year, figures released by the Statistical Service showed.
The Index of Industrial Production for May reached 76.7 units (base 2010=100), a decrease of 0.6% compared to the same month last year. This is the highest level the Index has reached since September 2014 when it stood at 78.6 units. For January-May, the Index increased 1.6% compared to the same period last year.
For Manufacturing, the index reached 78.7 units in May, up 0.9% compared to May 2014.
