Fewer build­ing per­mits in Jan-May, value up

Build­ing per­mits is­sued in Jan­uaryMay this year dropped 3% to 2,034, com­pared to the same pe­riod last year, the Sta­tis­ti­cal Ser­vice Cy­s­tat said, con­sti­tut­ing a lead­ing in­di­ca­tor of fu­ture ac­tiv­ity in the con­struc­tion sec­tor.

On the other hand, the to­tal value of these per­mits in­creased by 21.0% and the to­tal area by 17.9% Cy­s­tat said, adding that the num­ber of dwelling units in­creased by 21.8%.

The Sta­tis­ti­cal Ser­vice an­nounced that the num­ber of build­ing per­mits au­tho­rised by the mu­nic­i­pal author­i­ties and the dis­trict ad­min­is­tra­tion of­fices in May stood at 434.

The to­tal value of these per­mits reached EUR 123.4 mln and the to­tal area 90,800 sq.m. These build­ing per­mits pro­vide for the con­struc­tion of 276 dwelling units.
