Blue Ca­reer 2015 looks at mar­itime job prospects

“Blue Ca­reer 2015”, a two-day event which aims to raise aware­ness amongst the younger gen­er­a­tion for jobs in the marine and mar­itime in­dus­try, in­clud­ing oil and gas, will be held on Thurs­day at newly es­tab­lished Mar­itime Academy (In­ter­col­lege build­ing), in Lar­naca and on Fri­day at the Cyprus Univer­sity of Tech­nol­ogy in Li­mas­sol.

This the third an­nual event and is be­ing co-or­gan­ised by the Cyprus Short­sea Pro­mo­tion Cen­tre (www.short­, the Cyprus Univer­sity of Tech­nol­ogy, the Mar­itime In­sti­tute of Eastern Mediter­ranean ( and the newly founded Cyprus Mar­itime Academy.

This year’s event will see par­tic­i­pants from sec­ondary schools, univer­si­ties, un­em­ployed grad­u­ates and other pro­fes­sion­als and in­cludes pre­sen­ta­tions by ex­perts from both the pri­vate and public sec­tors. The guest speak­ers will also high­light the spe­cific qual­i­fi­ca­tions re­quired for each dis­ci­pline, what their du­ties and re­spon­si­bil­i­ties will be, as well as their fu­ture em­ploy­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties and ca­reer de­vel­op­ment. The event will be held in Greek and en­trance will be free.
