Ne­go­tia­tors end 2015 meet­ings with cri­te­ria on property

The ne­go­tia­tors of the Greek Cypriot and the Turk­ish Cypriot sides, Andreas Mavroyian­nis and Ozdil Nami, con­cluded their meet­ings for 2015 with a dis­cus­sion on the cri­te­ria re­lat­ing to the property is­sue.

They talked at length about property, one of the core is­sues of the Cyprus prob­lem, and about the planned meet­ings of the lead­ers of the two com­mu­ni­ties, Pres­i­dent Ni­cos Anas­tasi­ades and Mustafa Ak­inci who are sched­uled to meet on Jan­uary 7, 14 and 29.

A state­ment is­sued af­ter the lead­ers’ last meet­ing for the year on Sun­day said they “eval­u­ated ne­go­ti­a­tions since talks be­gan on 15 May 2015 and ex­pressed their sat­is­fac­tion with the progress that has been achieved to date. While ac­knowl­edg­ing that the tasks ahead re­main dif­fi­cult, the lead­ers are de­ter­mined to main­tain the pos­i­tive mo­men­tum of the talks with their next meet­ings”.

The lead­ers, it added, “held con­struc­tive de­lib­er­a­tions on all of the out­stand­ing is­sues and pro­vided fur­ther guidance to the ne­go­tia­tors”.
