Ship­ping Depart­ment. It is crit­i­cal to al­low for spe­cial­i­sa­tion and flex­i­bil­ity, in an in­ter­con­nected sys­tem in­volv­ing all stake­hold­ers. We need to be com­pet­i­tive and flex­i­ble. These char­ac­ter­is­tics are highly val­ued by the pri­vate sec­tor and in­deed the ship­ping in­dus­try.

We have to build on the pos­i­tive char­ac­ter­is­tics of the Cyprus ship­ping clus­ter and en­hance it to bet­ter ser­vice the sec­tor, with par­tic­u­lar at­ten­tion to af­ter sale ser­vice.

Fur­ther­more, the de­vel­op­ments in the en­ergy sec­tor cre­ate op­por­tu­ni­ties for our coun­try be­yond our phys­i­cal size. The nec­es­sary re­forms must en­tail hor­i­zon­tal poli­cies, ex­e­cuted by flex­i­ble pub­lic struc­tures in close co­op­er­a­tion with the pri­vate sec­tor. These will en­able Cyprus to be­come an even big­ger and stronger ship­ping cen­tre.
