KEO Ouzo Extra Fine wins gold medal at Lyon contest
KEO’s Ouzo Extra Fine has won the gold medal at the Concours International de Lyon 2016 as the best in its category, in an international competition where some 2,500 wines and spirits from 15 countries took part.
According to a KEO announcement, the Extra Fine was the only ouzo to win a medal, which makes the award even more important for the Cypriot drinks maker. KEO’s Ouzo Extra Fine is distilled in huge vats of 1,000 litres (alembics), just as prescribed by European regulations for the manufacture of ouzo in Greece and Cyprus.
KEO says it follows strictly these regulations and invested in the vats about two years ago for the distillation of aromatic seeds, just as the authentic ouzo is made and meeting the standards of the leading ouzo makers of Greece.
