Seafood classes with Lazarou at Lidl Academy

TV celebrity Lef­teris Lazarou, chef of the Miche­lin-star Varoulko restau­rant in Pi­raeus, dropped in on one of the Lidl Food Academy cook­ing classes re­cently, giv­ing tips and prac­ti­cal ad­vice on how to pre­pare and serve fish.

Lazarou and his “TV ri­val” Demetris Skar­mout­sos have been the long-serv­ing chef am­bas­sadors for Lidl, as the low-cost chain tries to at­tract cus­tomers to its pre­mium brands. The celebrity due have of­ten pub­lished com­pet­ing recipes pro­vid­ing choice to the pub­lic. Many of their selections are posted on the Lidl face­book page and on their web­site.

Lidl Food Academy was launched about a year ago and is lo­cated on the ‘bou­tique av­enue’ of Stas­s­i­cra­tous street in Ni­cosia, where cus­tomers who have filled in their coupons are drawn and in­vited to learn more about cook­ing.

Lazarou was also in­volved with the launch of the Fish Mar­ket in Li­mas­sol Old Port, a stone’s throw away from the Hobo Mediter­ranean in the Li­mas­sol Ma­rina, whose menu was crafted by Skar­mout­sos. Both restau­rants are op­er­ated by the fran­chise com­pany PHC.
