Seafood classes with Lazarou at Lidl Academy
TV celebrity Lefteris Lazarou, chef of the Michelin-star Varoulko restaurant in Piraeus, dropped in on one of the Lidl Food Academy cooking classes recently, giving tips and practical advice on how to prepare and serve fish.
Lazarou and his “TV rival” Demetris Skarmoutsos have been the long-serving chef ambassadors for Lidl, as the low-cost chain tries to attract customers to its premium brands. The celebrity due have often published competing recipes providing choice to the public. Many of their selections are posted on the Lidl facebook page and on their website.
Lidl Food Academy was launched about a year ago and is located on the ‘boutique avenue’ of Stassicratous street in Nicosia, where customers who have filled in their coupons are drawn and invited to learn more about cooking.
Lazarou was also involved with the launch of the Fish Market in Limassol Old Port, a stone’s throw away from the Hobo Mediterranean in the Limassol Marina, whose menu was crafted by Skarmoutsos. Both restaurants are operated by the franchise company PHC.
