# Cyprus flag getting younger, as most ships under 10 years old

Most vessels registered under the Cyprus flag are under ten years of age, with the four vessels with a tonnage between 120,000 and 129,999 tons under 5 years old and the two largest of a tonnage of over 150,000 tons under ten years.

Only 10% of all the vessels were more than 30 years old.

According to data of the Department of Merchant Shipping as of 31 December 2015 a total of 1,704 vessels were registered in Cyprus, of which 732 were under 5 years old, 282, between 5 and 9, 225 between 10 and 14, 120 between 15 and 19, 103 between 20 and 24 years of age, 78 between 25 and 29 while 164 are over 30 years old.

Also, 127 of the 164 vessels over 30 years of age are of a tonnage of under 1,000 tons.

According to the data 492 vessels are of up to 99 tons, 154 between 100 and 499 tons, 34 between 500 and 99 tons, 29 between 1,000 and 1,599 tons, 31 between 1,600 and 1,999 tons, 154 between 2,000 and 3,999 tons, 101 between 4,000 and 5,999 tons, 37 between 6,000 and 6,999 tons, 42 between 7,000 and 7,999 tons, 52 between 8,000 and 9,999 tons, 57 between 10,000 and 14,999 tons, 111 between 15,000 and 19,999 tons, 134 between 20,000 and 29,999 tons, 88 between 30,000 and 39,999 tons, 89 between 40,000 and 49,999 tons, 25 between 50,000 and 59,999 tons, 24 between 60,000 and 69,999 tons, 7 between 70,000 and 79,999 tons, 18 between 80,000 and 89,999 tons, 11 between 90,000 and 99,999 tons, 8 between 100,000 and 119,999 tons, 4 between 120,000 and 129,999 tons and 2 are over 150,000 tons.
