BOC to bid for Em­po­riki, Marfin snaps up Laiki shares

Bank of Cyprus has shown in­ter­est to bid for Em­po­riki Bank prompt­ing Credit Agri­cole to up its of­fer, while Marfin con­tin­ues to snap up Laiki shares dur­ing the closed pe­riod and could face fines if the SEC de­cides to en­force the law, ac­cord­ing to the is­sue 676, on June 21, 2006.

Bank of Cyprus is ex­pected to sub­mit a bid close to the cur­rent mar­ket price of Em­po­riki Bank, or EUR 26.50 a share or up to 28.00, match­ing the of­fer sub­mit­ted by Credit Agri­cole to
