MTN Cyprus hosts cru­cial EIG con­fer­ence

One of the most im­por­tant con­fer­ences in the telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions sec­tor, that of the Man­age­ment Com­mit­tee of EIG (Europe In­dia Gateway) took place in Li­mas­sol re­cently, un­der the aus­pices of MTN.

MTN Group, one of the most im­por­tant part­ners in EIG is one of the most im­por­tant ca­ble sys­tems in the world, to­gether with an­other 15 telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions op­er­a­tors from around the world. The Europe In­dia Gateway ca­ble is over 15,000 km in length and starts from the United King­dom, cross­ing Por­tu­gal, Gi­bral­tar, Monaco, France, Libya, Egypt, Saudi Ara­bia, Dji­bouti, Oman, UAE to end up in In­dia. At­tend­ing the con­fer­ence of the Man­ag­ing Com­mit­tee, were rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions part­ners of the afore­men­tioned coun­tries along with the lead­er­ship team of EIG. They all met in Li­mas­sol and ex­changed opin­ions and ideas on the fu­ture of the EIG ca­ble sys­tem.

The Pres­i­dent of EIG, Rab Paramoth­ayan of Gibt­ele­com, who was present at the con­fer­ence, de­scribed the or­gan­i­sa­tion of the con­fer­ence as flaw­less. To­gether with the Man­ag­ing Com­mit­tee some im­por­tant de­ci­sions were made in or­der to en­sure the con­tin­u­ing re­sponse to the al­ways in­creas­ing de­mand of the net­work. Paramoth­ayan thanked MTN not only for the im­pec­ca­ble hos­pi­tal­ity but also for its im­por­tant con­tri­bu­tion to the Con­fer­ence.

On be­half of the MTN Group, John Paul Bagi­ire was present and stated that MTN is proud to host the Con­fer­ence of the Man­age­ment Com­mit­tee in Cyprus and added: “Con­duct­ing the an­nual EIG Meet­ing con­fer­ence in Cyprus is a recog­ni­tion of the value as­cribed by EIG to the MTN Group, as this ca­ble sys­tem serves an im­por­tant num­ber of the branches of MTN in Africa and the Mid­dle East”.
