Trade deficit widens to 3.1 bln in September
Cyprus recorded a trade deficit of EUR 3.1 bln in September, compared with a 2.5 bln trade deficit a year ago. Of this figure, EUR 2.7 billion is with the EU (up from EUR 2.1 bln a year ago) and EUR 0.4 bln to the rest of the world (unchanged).
Cyprus exports reached EUR 1.2 bln (0.6 bln with the EU, a 18% decrease and 0.6 with the rest of the world, a 6% increase), a drop of 7% compared with September 2015. Imports stood at EUR 4.3 bln (3.3 bln form the EU, 18% increase and 1.0 bln from the rest of the world, a 3% increase), which represents a rise of 14% compared with September 2015.
