Trade deficit widens to 3.1 bln in Septem­ber

Cyprus recorded a trade deficit of EUR 3.1 bln in Septem­ber, com­pared with a 2.5 bln trade deficit a year ago. Of this fig­ure, EUR 2.7 bil­lion is with the EU (up from EUR 2.1 bln a year ago) and EUR 0.4 bln to the rest of the world (un­changed).

Cyprus ex­ports reached EUR 1.2 bln (0.6 bln with the EU, a 18% de­crease and 0.6 with the rest of the world, a 6% in­crease), a drop of 7% com­pared with Septem­ber 2015. Im­ports stood at EUR 4.3 bln (3.3 bln form the EU, 18% in­crease and 1.0 bln from the rest of the world, a 3% in­crease), which rep­re­sents a rise of 14% com­pared with Septem­ber 2015.
