Mucho se ha escrito este año sobre el fenómeno de El Niño, y las predicciones de la NOAA (Agencia estadounidense Oceánica y Atmosférica), dicen que este año, el efecto será “de ligero a moderado”, aunque nadie lo sabe con seguridad. El fenómeno afecta a la temperatura del agua a lo largo del Pacífico y, por supuesto, en Galápagos, calen- tándola por sobre el promedio habitual. Esto crea ganadores y perdedores en el mundo natural. ¡Un tiempo fascinante para observar la adaptabilidad de las especies!

There has been a lot written about the El Niño phenomenon this year, and the predictions, according to NOAA (the NASA of the meteorological world) are that the effect this year will be “light to moderate” – although no-one knows for sure. The phenomenon affects water temperatures across the Pacific, and of course, in the Galápagos, warming them beyond their usual averages. This creates winners and losers in the natural world. A fascinating time to observe the adaptability of species!

Los cineastas ecuatorianos Rafael Barriga y Mayfe Ortega, tienen previsto presentar su documental acerca del trabajo de Rolf Blomberg, el escritor, cineasta, explorador y antropólogo sueco que viajó y documentó el Ecuador en los años 30. Ecuadorian filmmakers, Rafael Barriga and Mayfe Ortega, are due to release their documentary about the work of Rolf Blomberg, the Swedish writer, filmmaker, explorer and anthropologist who travelled and documented Ecuador from the 1930s onwards.
