HANS MERENSKY NATURE RESERVE
It’s probably the only golf course in the world where you keep one eye on the flag and the other on a giraffe that’s eyeballing you from the edge of the green. Yes, there are wild animals on the golf course, which also include hippos and crocodiles. The Hans Merensky Resort lies near the Phalaborwa Gate of the Kruger National Park, and when you’re not chasing eagles on the course, you can seek lion, elephant and the rest of the Big Five brethren in the park. The 18-hole course is rated par 72 and has been voted the best walking course in the country and also ranks under the top 20 courses in the country. Accommodation in the resort ranges from hotel rooms to five selfcatering units or suites with a stoep overlooking the bushveld.
