New JLR tech allows you to steer your Range Rover through a smartphone app. Is autonomous driving in Land Rover’s future plans?
Personally, I still prefer driving a car. But the reality is that autonomous driving is there. But it’s going to take massive governmental and infrastructure changes to implement it properly. While people will always have the desire to drive the vehicle themselves, the ideal is to have both. Perhaps you’re stuck in highway traffic for an hour and a half and you want to spend 30 minutes going into autonomous mode to catch up on work or sleep? Wouldn’t that be great? But culturally and psychologically, it’ll take a while for us to get to that point. Maybe that’s for the next generation of vehicle owners.
