Prepara­tory stage ex­ams re­port­edly leaked

A Face­book page leaked on Sun­day al­leged Al­ge­bra ex­ams in Cairo, min­utes af­ter the exam started, re­ported lo­cal me­dia.

The Face­book page also leaked al­leged exam for Ara­bic and Me­chan­ics for Me­noufiya, Daqahleya, and Man­soura gov­er­norates, min­utes af­ter the ex­ams started.

Min­is­ter of Ed­u­ca­tion Tarek Shawky said in a tele­vised in­ter­view on a pri­vately owned chan­nel that exam leaks are not the big­gest is­sue fac­ing ed­u­ca­tion in Egypt, de­scrib­ing it as “a drop in the ocean”.

In 2016, ex­ams leaks for the sec­ondary stage stirred con­tro­versy, which led the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion to post­pone a num­ber of ex­ams, while the Min­istry of In­te­rior an­nounced that the Se­cret Pub­li­ca­tions Sec­tor of the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion is re­spon­si­ble for pub­lish­ing exam pa­pers; how­ever, the leaks have con­tin­ued de­spite the min­istry’s claims.

The Min­istry of In­te­rior also an­nounced ar­rest­ing two ad­min­is­tra­tors of a Face­book page that leaked exam ques­tions.

Face­book pages such as ChaoMing and Bel ghesh etga­mana (through cheat­ing we are united) were formed to mod­ify stu­dents’ exam re­sults. They had threat­ened the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion to con­tinue leak­ing than aweyya amma (Sec­ondary stage) ex­ams through­out the sec­ond round of test­ing.
