Egyp­tian and Saudi min­is­ters of trade con­clude meet­ings in Riyadh

The meet­ings of the Egyp­tian and Saudi work­ing groups, held be­tween the pe­riod of 14 to 16 May, con­cluded in Riyadh, Saudi Ara­bia.The Egyp­tian del­e­ga­tion to Saudi Ara­bia was headed by Saeed Ab­dal­lah, the deputy min­is­ter of trade, while the Saudi del­e­ga­tion was headed by Mo­hamed Al Abd, deputy as­sis­tant to the Saudi min­is­ter of trade and in­vest­ment.

The meet­ings were an im­ple­men­ta­tion of the rec­om­men­da­tions that were is­sued dur­ing the meet­ings of the fifth ses­sion of the Egyp­tian-Saudi com­mit­tee, which was held in April.

Ab­dal­lah said that the meet­ings held un­der the spon­sor­ship of both min­is­ters of trade in the two coun­tries mainly looked into ways of co­op­er­a­tion and co­or­di­na­tion be­tween them in the fields that serve both coun­tries’ best in­ter­ests.

More­over, dur­ing the se­ries of meet­ings, Egypt and Saudi Ara­bia agreed on the im­por­tance of en­hanc­ing joint trade and eco­nomic co­op­er­a­tion in the field of cus­toms train­ing and ex­chang­ing tech­ni­cal and cog­ni­tive ex­pe­ri­ences, as well as fa­cil­i­tat­ing the es­tab­lish­ment of trade ex­hi­bi­tions in the two coun­tries.

Dur­ing the con­clu­sion of the meet­ings, a date was set to look into ac­ti­vat­ing in­dus­trial co­op­er­a­tion be­tween the two par­ties and ways of in­creas­ing Saudi in­vest­ments in Egypt. Ad­di­tion­ally, im­prove­ments were dis­cussed for the fields of elec­tric­ity and civil avi­a­tion.

The meet­ings also in­cluded dis­cussing co­op­er­a­tion in the im­ple­men­ta­tion of ma­jor pe­tro­leum projects be­tween Egyp­tian and Saudi pe­tro­leum com­pa­nies.
