Farida Os­man, Africa’s best ath­lete

Egyp­tian swim­mer Farida Os­man has won the award for “Best Ath­lete in Africa 2017” at the World Athletics Awards cer­e­mony on the side­lines of the As­so­ci­a­tion of Na­tional Olympic Com­mit­tees (ANOC) in Prague, Czech Repub­lic.

“2017 has been a great year for me—es­pe­cially the his­toric mo­ment of win­ning Egypt’s first-ever medal at the FINA World Cham­pi­onships,” said Os­man, ac­cord­ing to the press re­lease.

Os­man has achieved a unique global achieve­ment af­ter win­ning the bronze medal in the 50-me­tre but­ter­fly dur­ing her par­tic­i­pa­tion in the World Swim­ming Cham­pi­onships, which took place in Hun­gary re­cently, to be­come the first Egyp­tian swim­mer to do so.
