Children’s education main driver behind truckers’ hard work
Ensuring the best possible education for their children was the answer of nearly two thirds (63%) of truck drivers as the main reason they work, according to a new study by Shell Rimula/Rotella heavy duty diesel engine oil.
The study surveyed 605 truck drivers to get a better insight into the dreams and aspirations of truckers across the world, helping to shine a light on the hard work they put in every day.
Moreover, the study indicates that when it comes to family, the majority of truckers (83%) are away from their loved ones up to one month at a time, and only 10% make it home daily. And while on the road,it’s their partners and children they miss the most (76%), followed by the taste of a home-cooked meal (28%).
Consequently, considering the long time they spend on the road,46% say they would like the chance to decorate the inside of their cabins to remind them of home, while 33% of truckers believe having their partner with them would make their journeys easier.
“Our survey findings highlight the hard work of truckers that sees them work over long periods and long distances away from their family and comforts of home. It is heart-warming to know that what ultimately motivates them is the same as all of us—to look after loved ones. It’s this relentless pursuit of their dreams that drives us every day to create a hard working engine oil that can help keep the truck’s engine in good working condition,” said Chris Guerrero, global marketing manager for Shell heavy duty diesel engine oils.
