Green project bonds worth USD100bn in world mar­ket

Di­rec­tor of the Re­search Depart­ment at the Egyp­tian Bank­ing In­sti­tute (EBI) Ola El-Khawaga, stressed the im­por­tance of sup­port­ing the state to in­vest in green projects, given the re­cent high rate of growth.

El Khawaga said at a sem­i­nar on fi­nanc­ing green projects held by the EBI on Wed­nes­day that the vol­ume of bonds of­fered to fi­nance green projects world­wide increased from only USD 4bn in 2010 to more than USD 100bn by the end of 2016.

Other speak­ers at the sem­i­nar in­cluded Huda Sabri, a fi­nan­cial and bank­ing ex­pert, and Abdel Aziz Naseer, ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor of the EBI.
