Prince William, Duchess Kate’s third child ar­rives

Third royal child is fifth in line for throne, push­ing his un­cle, Harry, to sixth in line

The Duchess of Cam­bridge Kate Mid­dle­ton gave birth to her third child, a boy, on Mon­day, Kens­ing­ton Palace an­nounced in a state­ment.

The baby boy was de­liv­ered in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hos­pi­tal in the at­ten­dance of his fa­ther, Prince William, while the rest of the fam­ily, Queen El­iz­a­beth II, the Duke of Ed­in­burgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Corn­wall, and Prince Harry, were in­formed of the news.

“Her Royal High­ness the Duchess of Cam­bridge was safely de­liv­ered of a son at 11:01hrs.The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz,” the palace tweeted.

The name of the baby was not re­vealed un­til the time of pub­lish­ing. How­ever, “her Royal High­ness and her child are both do­ing well,” ac­cord­ing to the Kens­ing­ton Palace state­ment pub­lished in Bri­tish news out­lets.

The third royal child be­came fifth in line to the throne, push­ing his un­cle, Harry, to sixth in line af­ter the baby’s el­der brother, Ge­orge, who is four years old, and Char­lotte, who is two.

The two el­der sib­lings are planned to meet their younger brother Mon­day af­ter­noon.

Hundreds of fans gath­ered in front of the hos­pi­tal wait­ing for the fam­ily’s first ap­pear­ance. Kens­ing­ton Palace had con­firmed that the new royal baby was on the way on 4 Septem­ber 2017.
