Let’s Get it Right
Two recent court reports need clarification and correction.
Lisiate Fotofili A report on March 17 2016 headlined “Man who allegedly knifed wife gets aid” referred to Director of Police Prosecution Lisiate Fotofili.
Mr Fotofili is in fact a State counsel from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. The matter was heard before Justice Priyantha Fernando.
Semi Babitu, Filipe Kepa A report on March 18 headlined “Kepa further remanded” said “State prosecutor Semi Babitu requested the court for another week to serve disclosure.” Disclosures have been served. Mr Babitu requested another date for pre-trial conference due to the defence counsel taking annual leave.
The report also said Justice Aruna Aluthge ruled for the case to be called again on March 29 for bail ruling. Filipe Tuisawau Koroinibau Wai Kepa had in fact already been granted bail. But he was unable to immediately provide a surety and was kept in custody. However, he presented a surety and is on bail. The matter has now been adjourned to 31 March 2016 for pre-trial conference. Our apologies. The errors are regretted.
