Fiji Ho­tel and Tourism As­so­ci­a­tion Mem­bers Boost PM’s Re­lief

Adel­e­ga­tion from the Fiji Ho­tel and Tourism As­so­ci­a­tion (FHTA) pre­sented $122,000 to the Prime Min­is­ter, Voreqe Bain­i­marama. The FHTA del­e­ga­tion was led by Pres­i­dent Dixon Seeto. Mr. Seeto said: “Many As­so­ci­a­tion prop­er­ties con­trib­uted to lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties via cash or kind im­me­di­ately af­ter Trop­i­cal Cy­clone Win­ston. Mem­bers co­or­di­nated with each other to source and trans­port hu­man­i­tar­ian re­lief sup­plies all over the coun­try.” He added many prop­er­ties and mem­bers were also sent re­lief sup­plies from their guests and re­quested that th­ese be sent to ar­eas of need. “Some mem­bers con­trib­uted di­rectly to the Prime Min­is­ter’s Re­lief and Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion Fund,”Mr. Seeto said. The Prime Min­is­ter in ac­cept­ing the cheque thanked the mem­ber­ship of the As­so­ci­a­tion.

He stated that the level of dev­as­ta­tion was un­prece­dented but he was touched and en­cour­aged that Fi­jians were as­sist­ing Fi­jians at all lev­els. He also thanked and ac­knowl­edged guests who have con­trib­uted via mem­bers. The Pres­i­dent and Di­rec­tors of the As­so­ci­a­tion would like to thank all those who reached deep into their pock­ets and hearts to help those af­fected by Trop­i­cal Cy­clone Win­ston. They ac­knowl­edged mem­bers who con­trib­uted to this ap­peal in ad­di­tion to what they have al­ready con­trib­uted in cash and kind.
