One thousand, five hundred and ninety-nine students will be graduating from the University of the South Pacific tomorrow. This will make them the highest number of graduates in any graduation ceremony in the university’s history.

USP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rajesh Chandra said academic excellence is the cornerstone of any good university. “Transformation from good to excellent is the central theme of our strategic plan. I believe that an institution is only as great as its people. “The University has set a record of being an example and responsible institution, more so because of our dynamic students and staff,” he said. Professor Chandra said the key focus of the university had been to ensure greater accessibility of their programmes and courses in order to enable all students to pursue their higher education dreams, regardless of time and distance.

“Accreditation is what differentiates us most from other tertiary and higher education providers in the region. That is why employers value us and the reason we are the first choice for students, parents and the Government,” he said. Edited by Jonathan Bryce
