Project Tave­uni Ap­peal Raises Over $5K

The ‘Project Tave­uni’ Win­ston Ap­peal Char­ity fash­ion show at the Tanoa Sky­lodge Ho­tel in Nadi last Satur­day night was able to raise raised over $ 5000. The fab­u­lous evening fea­tured Fiji’s top de­sign­ers Rosie Semisi, Mi- chael Mau­sio, Robert Kennedy and Ana Rabuka (Sty­los­o­phy) show­cas­ing their glam­our pieces for a wor­thy cause. Project Tave­uni founder Ana Rabuka said, “With even a dol­lar we can help make a dif­fer­ence’ and for sure we will be able to put a smile on some­one’s face whether it’s a child or an elderly.” She said there were thou­sands of chil­dren with their fam­i­lies who have lost ev­ery­thing from sta­tionery, clothes, bed­dings, linens and many more. “The re­sponse has been amaz­ing; peo­ple saw what­ever we col­lected will go to­wards school sta­tionery, ex­tra build­ing ma­te­ri­als and also farm­ing tools,” she said.

“This is one of the main rea­son of my fundrais­ing with the hope that what­ever we will be able to get, we will be able to brighten up smiles on these chil­dren’s faces.” The event was sup­ported Radis­son Blu Re­sort, Par­adise Bev­er­ages, Manta Ray Is­land, Cru­soe’s Re­treat, Tanoa Ho­tel Group, Cap­tain Cook Cruises, SPR, South Pa­cific Butcher­ing Com­pany, Bilo Café, Laxco, and Mix FM. “We are thank­ful to all those com­pa­nies who have been so gen­er­ous to come on board and con­trib­ute in forms of fi­nan­cial spon­sor­ships to host the event,” Ms Rabuka said. Chief guest Mem­ber of Par­lia- ment Sa­muela Vu­ni­valu ap­plauded the ob­jec­tive of Project Tave­uni team in the as­sis­tance with the gov­ern­ment to re­build Fiji.

“This is an ex­cel­lent strat­egy put in place to go with the Gov­ern­ment plans in the re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion process that were worst hit dur­ing Fe­bru­ary 20,” Mr Vu­ni­valu said.
