Air France plane de­fies Tahiti strike

An Air France plane bound for the United States has been able to take off from French Poly­ne­sia de­spite a strike by some air­line staff.

It was un­cer­tain if ser­vices could be as­sured over the Easter holiday pe­riod be­cause some unions are on strike for bet­ter con­di­tions.

How­ever, the air­craft due to leave on Good Fri­day man­aged to de­part, but the pub­lic broad­caster said for se­cu­rity rea­sons dozens of pas­sen­ger were forced to stay in Tahiti.

It re­ported that only four of the 11 cabin crew ex­pected for the flight were present. Air France asked its pas­sen­gers in Tahiti to li­aisie with its of­fice for in­for­ma­tion about to­mor­row’s planned flight. The union said con­di­tions be­ing of­fered in main­land France were far su­pe­rior.
