Joshua vows to make Martin uneasy
London: Anthony Joshua has vowed to make IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin ‘uncomfortable’ when the pair meet at the O2 Arena in London on April 9. The Brit has stepped up to world title level after just 15 fights, ending each of those previous bouts inside the scheduled distance in a clinical professional career so far. Joshua has already garnered a reputation as a huge puncher, and his opponent to feel the full force of his repertoire. “I think he’s a cool, calm character and that shows in his boxing,” he told Sky Sports.
“That’s what I like about southpaws - they’re calm, collected and they punish you for your mistakes. That’s how he fights. “’ve got to expose him. I’ve got to take him to waters he has never been in. He’s cool and calm so I’ve got to go in there and turn it into an aggressive, uncomfortable and unpredictable type of fight. That’s how I may rattle Martin.” Joshua has stressed the importance of sparring ahead of the fight, as he prepares to take on a southpaw in the biggest bout of his career so far. “He’s a big guy, he’s had a few knockouts,” he added. “He hits hard and punishes his opponents. He’s a southpaw and deals with orthodox fighters on a day to day basis because there are so many of them.”
