300 babies born monthly in Vanuatu
Port Vila: Vanuatu’s population growth rate currently stands at 2.4 per cent.
Minister for Health, Daniel Toara, cited some figures in the first Extraordinary Session of Parliament which he described as ‘alarming’ and called for a concerted effort to tackle the high birth rate.
“In 2015 (a total of) 8500 babies were born; at the Vila Central Hospital (VCH) alone 3000 babies were born and monthly 300 babies are born. It is alarming. All of us need to work on this.”
Minister Toara also said statistics shows that there are more females than males. Vanuatu Daily Post
