Players With Conjunctivitis To Be Isolated, Says Coach
With all injured players cleared to resume training, another issue has popped up for the Vodafone Fijian 7s team - the isolating of a few players due to conjunctivitis. This comes as the team returned to camp yesterday for their last phase of training before they leave for Hong Kong. Vodafone Fijian 7s team coach, Ben Ryan said the players from Suva were the ones who have contracted the virus but they should be fine for Hong Kong. “Yes a number of players have conjunctivitis from the men’s and women’s side, we have seven in total,” he said. “We are isolating them, giving the appropriate medicine and making sure we minimise contact with other players but all players should be fine for Hong Kong (men) and Atlanta (women).” Ryan is expected to name his 14-member squad on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Telecom Fijiana side have also returned to camp as they prepare to leave for the United States on Sunday. The Atlanta 7s will be played next weekend and the Fijiana are pooled with Australia, England and Columbia.
